The tone on these are bayans are deep and warm...its great addition to your tabla set.

Well made Baya, thick straps and balanced head. Good for practice but definitely missing loudness and extra resonance for performance.

Great buy
The blemishes are usually cosmetics unless its a crack. Even the crack drum maintain its tones or bols. Definitely worth the buy if cosmetics is not a big concern for you.

The good and bad
The good news is that the dayan I received is of excellent quality - save for the cracks. The bad news is that not all of the cracks in the dayan were repaired, and the ones that were repaired were repaired very poorly; hence, they will need to be re-repaired. The repairs involved pouring a little glue inside one of the cracks, which is NOT how warping and cracking wood is repaired for long-term stability. Yet, nonetheless, the price was worth the purchase.

Budget tabla - great price
The customer service was great. Mickey(?) went above and beyond to help me. He is extremely knowledgeable about instruments and I got to ask him lots of questions regarding the tabla. The shell was a bit damage;. But I wasn't expecting much from such an affordable tabla. It is just what a beginner needs, for practice. I think I will definitely be going to Kala Kendar for their higher quality tablas once I get good at the instrument.
