A high quality concert dayan created by Vijay Vhatkar. The shell is a heavy, well seasoned hardwood (black shisham) built the traditional Mumbai way, nice heavy shyie with thick and very durable skins and straps. A Concert grade Tabla, reviewed by many professional musicians including Zakir Hussain and Anindo Chatterjee. Great for performances.

ordered a "C#" not "A"
I ordered a C# and it came A. I had to remove the dowels and tighten the strap a few times. I wasn't expecting it to be in tune, but geeze an "A"?

Great loud full sound dayan
This is my 3rd tabla piece purchase from kalakendar made by *****. My 1st purchase was a 5.50 MD concert Dayan back in 2012, 2nd purchase was MD chrome concert Bayan size 9 inches sometime last year and now this master piece professional Dayan size 5.50 inches tuned to D I got today along with the 5.50 inches Benares tabla shell. Though the MD tabla size is a bit small than 5.50. Anyways the Dayan has a loud full sound because of the heavy weight that is every tabla players demand. A lovely Dayan!
This is a sweet and spirited instrument! With little effort it rings clear as a bell. The Kala Kendar team did a superlative job of sending a balanced and resonant head. Thank you! (my drum does seems a little smaller than the 5.5 that i ordered, but i'm still very satisfied.)

Amazing MD dayan!
In my opinion, they don't get any better than than the MD professional dayan. Just picked up a 5.75" C#, and a 6" C. The sound is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you Mickey for your patience, and for making this possible.
