Somnath is an amazing maker and this is an incredible drum. I highly recommend for the professional player. The "ring" on this drum is amazing and the sound quality is out of this world. I ordered a 5.75 at C# and it came just as that. Look no further!

Incredible Dayan with great sustain and tone
I had heard about Somnath through a friend who studies with Jim Feist. I decided to give them a try and I am thoroughly impressed. The tone is very rich and full and I feel like it sounds better every day. I went in to the store and Micky had a number of dayans set up for me to try. There were advantages to each, however, I kept returning to the Somnath dayans. I'm very grateful for this quality of craftsmanship and also to Kala Kendar for carrying such a wonderful selection of instruments.

Best Tabla, Great sound and best quality
Just picked up my 5-3/4 Somnath Kakade Dayan from the post office today, put the gattas in, tuned it to C# as it is supposed to be tuned to D and it sounds awesome. The sound quality is great and is reasonably priced. Thankfully it passed Australian customs Bio-Security laws and came in safe and sound. Somnath Tablas are favoured by the likes of Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Pandit Yogesh Samsi, Pandit Suresh Talwaker, Pandit Ramdas Palsule and others. Thank you so much Mickey for giving me the best Dayan ever. This is a same dayan I've seen tabla players named above using this very dayan in their live concerts.
