The kanjira, a South Indian frame drum, is an instrument of the tambourine family. It is used primarily in concerts of South Indian classical music as a supporting instrument for the mridangam. Traditionally the skin was made from lizard but that is not allowed anymore due to species protection. Instead, the kanjeeras of our supplier MKS have a goatskin. The skin may be uneven, this is not a quality defect. Overall diameter measures 7"/18cm.
