Pro-quality dayan heads (the same good quality that we use on our Varanasi tabla sets). These heads tend to have a nice thick syahis (gob) and soft/tender chat. Good quality skins, very durable.
Be certain to measure the diameter of the wooden barrel (for best results, remove the old head) and not the diameter of the entire tabla head. For best results and for a perfect fit, use our measuring guide, click here.

I just received the items I ordered today and it was exactly the correct size. I am very happy with the service. Kala Kendar Music contacted me several times about the other drum head I need but they didn't have the size in stock as it was an odd size. I recommend them for hard to find ethnic instruments. Also impressed with the quality of the drum head I did get.

Pretty nice!
I replaced my broken 5 1/8" head with this one (5 1/4") which works very well. I can tune it up to a C, perhaps even higher but I haven't tried. The skin is smooth and it rings very well. It's a pleasure to play.

Absolutely beautiful
Ordered a head for my 5.75 Muktadas dayan shell. Well made head. Very clean. After installing, the sound is so beautiful. . .Unbelievably better than when the tabla was new. The shyahi is not as thick as a previous head I ordered from Kala Kendar, however, the sound is so resonant and sweet that I can't really complain. Highly recommend these banaras heads. And the attention and service from Mickey was superb. Thank you Mickey.

new concert tabla
I bought 2 of these. One is on a dodgy old mango wood shell, and sounds ok (not the head's fault, the shell is a but rough hewn) but I have to pull it some more. The other one is fabulous however, and is my new D concert tabla.
